Why coat the stairs too
Concrete stairs leading into a garage take a beating — foot traffic, dropped tools, and in our climate, moisture and grit tracked in from outside. Left uncoated, they wear unevenly and start looking dingy long before the rest of the floor does. Coating them in the same finish as the floor protects that high-traffic surface and makes the whole space feel intentional rather than half-finished.
What it looks like in practice
Here’s a real example from a project in the North Houston metro: an entryway staircase leading from the garage into the home. The steps and landing were coated in the same flake finish as the surrounding floor — durable, slip-resistant, and visually seamless with the rest of the space.
