Stop Ignoring That Garage — Watch the Full Transformation
This video walks through a real project from start to finish — no shortcuts, no guesswork.
Mark starts by prepping the slab: filling cracks and holes, then grinding the concrete to open it up for proper bonding. Once the surface is ready, he applies the epoxy base coat and broadcasts the color flakes by hand. After the flakes set, he brooms and vacuums off the excess before applying the clear topcoat — the layer that locks everything in, gives the floor its shine, and adds the final layer of protection against stains, chemicals, and daily wear.
The result: a garage floor that goes from cracked and neglected to durable, glossy, and showroom-ready.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can epoxy flooring be installed in humid conditions?
right here. Houston’s humidity means extra attention to moisture-vapor testing and slab
prep before coating; skip that step and you’ll see the peeling described in question 4 within
a year or two. A true moisture barrier is actually rare in garage floor installations — what
matters most is proper vapor testing and surface prep before the coating goes down.
Can epoxy floors be installed during cold weather?
the 50°F threshold epoxy needs for a proper cure, so timing is almost never an issue here —
unlike in colder climates where installers have to wait out winter.
Will epoxy floors yellow overtime?
direct UV exposure. Garages with south- or west-facing doors that catch afternoon Texas
sun are the most exposed — we use UV-stable topcoats specifically to guard against this in
our climate.
Why do epoxy floors peel or lift?
surface prep, moisture issues, contamination, or low-quality materials — the exact failure
mode we see most often on DIY kits applied straight over a Houston slab without addressing
ground moisture first.
Is the solids content of an epoxy coating important ?
up better against Houston’s heat and humidity swings over the year. The right system
depends on how the space is used — a daily-driver garage needs a different spec than a
showroom.
Can an existing epoxy floor be recoated
sound and properly bonded. We inspect for the moisture and adhesion issues common in
older Houston-area slabs before recommending a recoat versus a full strip and redo.
What is hot tire lift, and does it happen in Texas?
pull the coating away from the concrete — and Texas summers make this a real risk with
cheaper coatings. Proper prep and premium materials are what prevent it; it’s one of the
main reasons DIY kits fail here.
How long does an epoxy floor last?
with normal use. Garages that double as workshops or see daily car traffic sit toward the
lower end of that range; a light-use garage sits toward the higher end.
Do epoxy floors have an odor during installation?
installation and curing, typically gone within a day or two with the garage door open —
normal in our climate and not a sign of anything wrong.
Does an epoxy floor need a topcoat?
stain resistance and easy cleanup, and it’s especially important here for standing up to
Texas heat and UV exposure over time.
